Performance and loss analysis
Use the Performance and Insights views to move from “which plant is underperforming?” to “which factors may explain the gap?” Start with a consistent portfolio and period, then narrow the investigation to one plant.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”You need access to the relevant plants and to the Performance or Insights area. The available navigation depends on your role and subscriptions.
Choose the view that matches your question:

Compare portfolio performance
Section titled “Compare portfolio performance”- Open Operation Overview and select Performance.
- Select a portfolio. Use the country selector if you need to narrow the plant set.
- Choose a Period Type:
- Day displays the requested series at 30-minute resolution. Upstream calculations can use five-minute intervals; this is a display resolution, not a 30-minute formula.
- Month displays daily results across the selected month.
- Choose a Parameter.
- Select the date, then choose Generate.
- Use the legend to hide or show plant series. Select Download CSV when you need the chart data for follow-up analysis.
Available parameters

Do not compare the height of two series until you have confirmed that they use the same parameter, period type, date, and plant scope.
Compare like with like
Section titled “Compare like with like”Before drawing a conclusion, confirm:
- the plant population and date boundary are the same;
- the same Day or Month display grain is selected;
- the same PR variant is being compared: base, corrected, overspill, or total;
- the units match: irradiance is W/m², irradiation is Wh/m², power is kW, and energy is kWh;
- the required temperature, weather, and plant-configuration inputs are available; and
- a monthly PR has not been recreated by averaging daily PR percentages.
Interpret curtailment-related PR
Section titled “Interpret curtailment-related PR”Overspill PR represents the normalized estimated curtailed contribution, while Total PR combines delivered energy with that estimate. Curtailment estimates need production, irradiance, and configuration inputs — check input coverage before reading a blank or zero as no curtailment.

Investigate the loss bridge
Section titled “Investigate the loss bridge”Use Insights → Overview to compare estimated loss categories and the stages between budgeted, potential, inverter, and metered energy. Keep the plant and period aligned with the performance comparison.
The selected portfolio, country, period, date, display mode, and analysis view are preserved in the page URL. You can refresh or share that URL without rebuilding the same comparison. Irradiation is plotted against the right-hand axis with point markers so it remains visually distinct from energy values on the left-hand axis. Insights CSV exports include a timestamp column in the browser’s local time for direct comparison with the view.

Check load and grid flow at a plant
Section titled “Check load and grid flow at a plant”Open the plant Overview and select the power chart. Where the plant has suitable meter data, it can show solar power, facility load, and grid power. The grid sign convention is plant-specific — follow Interpret load and grid flow before reading direction from the chart, and do not substitute zero for a missing series.
A disciplined comparison workflow
Section titled “A disciplined comparison workflow”For a repeatable investigation:
- Fix the portfolio, country, date, and period type.
- Compare Specific Yield to find plants that differ after capacity normalization.
- Compare PR and PR Corrected to see whether temperature correction changes the ranking.
- Continue with Availability and loss analysis for a monthly availability comparison.
- Open Insights → Overview for the same scope and period.
- Identify the largest changed visible loss category and inspect the plant view.
- Review alarm analytics for recurring events in the same period.
- Use a report when you need a saved operational record.
When the numbers do not line up
Section titled “When the numbers do not line up”Check these boundaries before escalating:
- Scope: portfolio, country, plant, and selected device population match.
- Period: day, month, year, and date boundaries match.
- Definition: base PR, corrected PR, Overspill PR, Total PR, specific yield, and availability are not interchangeable.
- Display grain: Day shows 30-minute points assembled from finer-grained processed data; Month shows daily results.
- Units: irradiance uses W/m², irradiation uses Wh/m², power uses kW, and accumulated energy uses kWh.
- Data coverage: irradiation, inverter, status, meter, and configuration inputs are present for the period.
- Availability and losses: use the dedicated Availability and loss analysis guide for denominator weighting, units, and missing-data boundaries.
Capture the selected scope, parameter, period, date, and percentage denominator when asking for help. This makes the comparison reproducible.
