Availability and loss analysis
Use availability to compare applicable operating capacity, then use the loss bridge to investigate the estimated energy impact. Keep the plant, period, and unit consistent while moving between the two views.
Choose the right view
Section titled “Choose the right view”You need access to the relevant plants and product areas. The available navigation depends on your role and subscriptions.

Compare availability
Section titled “Compare availability”- Open Operation Overview → Performance.
- Select a portfolio. Narrow the scope by country when needed.
- Choose Month as the period type.
- Select Availability.
- Choose the month and select Generate.
- Use the legend to compare plant series. Select Download CSV when you need the chart data for follow-up.
Availability is shown as a percentage, capacity-weighted where inverter capacity metadata exists. Longer periods recombine the underlying weighted counts, so never average displayed daily or plant percentages to recreate a monthly value — see the worked example in Availability and energy-loss attribution.
Investigate the loss bridge
Section titled “Investigate the loss bridge”- Open Insights → Overview.
- Choose Portfolio or Plant.
- Select the portfolio or plant and, where available, the country filter.
- Choose Month or Year. For a yearly view, choose the available month or quarter partition.
- Select the period.
- Review the waterfall, then use the table to compare individual plants.
The waterfall shows the four estimated loss categories — Irradiation, Overspill, Unavailability, and Soiling — plus two bridge stages: Variance (the unexplained remainder, a signal to investigate rather than a cause) and Meter to Inverter (inverter yield versus metered yield). Show values and percentages
Section titled “Show values and percentages”Use the display controls to show values, percentages, or both. When percentages are enabled, choose the denominator that matches the question:
- Budget Yield expresses each category relative to the original budget expectation.
- Potential Generation expresses each category relative to the expected generation after budget allowances.
Changing the denominator changes the displayed percentage, not the underlying energy value. Record the denominator when sharing a screenshot or export.
Interpret unavailability separately
Section titled “Interpret unavailability separately”Compare availability percent and unavailability-loss kWh for the identical plant and period. Similar availability percentages can have different energy effects because the unavailable intervals can occur under different solar conditions and involve different capacity.
Neither indicator diagnoses the cause — confirm the same period against plant telemetry and alarm analytics.

Escalation checklist
Section titled “Escalation checklist”When the comparison still does not make sense, capture:
- portfolio or plant and country scope;
- selected view, period, and date;
- availability percentage or loss category and its unit;
- the selected percentage denominator;
- a screenshot or CSV export; and
- any missing irradiation, power, status, meter, or configuration data you observed.
Ask the appropriate administrator or support contact to confirm the configured operating window, inverter-capacity metadata, and relevant telemetry coverage. This makes the investigation reproducible without changing calculation settings during the review.
