Resolve and close

Resolving a work order records the execution outcome and moves active work to the visible Resolved state. There is no separate, reachable approval step in the current WorkOrder V3 workflow.

Use Resolve Work Order after the operational action has been performed and the available execution, impact, and shutdown information is ready to record.

  • field or remote work has finished
  • end time and man-hours are known where relevant
  • potential loss or availability impact can be recorded
  • affected-device and shutdown information has been checked
  • supporting files should be attached before the record becomes resolved
  1. Open an active New or Assigned work order.
  2. Select Resolve to open Resolve Work Order.
  3. Review and update the editable work-order fields if the issue context changed during execution.
  4. Enter Workorder End, Manhours, and Potential Loss where they apply.
  5. Add or verify shutdown type, timing, and affected devices where availability was affected.
  6. Upload any final attachments before closing.
  7. Select Resolve and Close.

The record is then shown as Resolved.

⚠️ No resolution notes field. The resolve dialog does not have a dedicated field for resolution notes. If you need to capture what was done, put that context in the editable work-order fields before resolving, or attach a supporting file. Once the record is resolved, uploads are no longer available.

💡 Attachments before resolve. Upload all final photos, reports, or evidence before clicking Resolve and Close. The upload control is unavailable once the record is in Resolved state.

  • execution timing and effort are captured
  • operational loss and shutdown context are recorded where applicable
  • supporting files remain associated with the work order
  • the active issue reaches its final visible execution state
  • Resolution availability is permission-dependent and is not limited universally to the assignee or a supervisor role.
  • A resolved work order cannot be assigned or resolved again.
  • Resolved records can still be archived to remove them from the default active list.
